Leadership

Management & leadership are terms often used interchangeably or linked together but not considered or clearly defined by organisations or individuals. Evolutionary Connections believes that management is a set of skills and processes that keeps your organisation running day to day. Whether your job title includes the phrase manager or not you may have management tasks and responsibility and you will often find them referenced in your job description. Planning, budgeting, staffing, problem solving, measuring performance are all management responsibilities that require particular skills. They are important but they are different from leadership. Leadership needs to be located in all areas and at all levels in and between organisations. It is a way of being, of thinking, communicating and acting that inspires trust and motivates people. There is a natural overlap between management and leadership and it is often the softer leadership skills that people struggle to define and have confidence to pursue.
